Pre-Season League Meeting at Ukrainian American Cultural Center of Connecticut

Managers and Executive Committee to convene as GHTBL prepares for 97th season.

The days have lengthened, baseball diamonds across New England have thawed, and the Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball League is preparing for another chapter in its storied history. League managers and members of the Executive Committee will gather for an important planning meeting at 7 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of Connecticut.

Located at 5 Commerce Drive in Cromwell, this welcoming venue will serve as the setting for league officials to align on operational details, to discuss competitive matters, and to set the stage for the season ahead. The meeting will be led by President Bill Holowaty and Vice President Andy Baylock. With decades of collective experience on hand, this pre-season assembly will help ensure a high-caliber of baseball that has defined the league since 1929.

Now entering its 97th season, the Twilight League remains one of Connecticut’s most enduring and respected summer baseball institutions. Featuring talented college players, seasoned veterans, and promising prospects, the GHTBL offers competitive, well-played games under the lights—showcasing a pure brand of baseball without the modern distractions of today’s game. The league is proudly of the old school.

The 2026 campaign is scheduled to begin in late May, with the complete schedule and game times to be released in the coming weeks. Fans, players, and supporters can look forward to another summer filled with memorable rivalries and the timeless appeal of twilight ball at Connecticut’s top ballparks.

Additional details regarding venues, special events, and the full 2026 slate will be announced as soon as possible on ghtbl.org/schedule.

In the meantime, managers are encouraged to finalize home game dates and rosters, while fans are invited to stay tuned for the return of evening baseball across Greater Hartford.

For 97 years, the GHTBL has stood as a pillar of community athletics in Connecticut—fostering talent, building camaraderie, and creating lasting memories on the diamond. The 2026 season promises to uphold a special tradition of local baseball played with spirit, skill, and sportsmanship.

GHTBL Joins ABCA

All GHTBL Managers become ABCA members to improve coaching and player development.

The GHTBL is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).  Our league and all of our managers will become members of the ABCA, the world’s largest amateur baseball coaching organization. 

The ABCA provides coaching resources, clinics, events, news and information about all things amateur baseball.  There are nearly 13,000 members representing all 50 states and 25 countries worldwide.

GHTBL President, Bill Holowaty is an ABCA Board Member, a former ABCA President and a 2002 ABCA Hall of Fame inductee.  Coach Holowaty is looking forward to improving the baseball knowledge and teaching tools of each GHTBL manager. 

Coach says, “You only get better if you keep learning.”  Barry Chasen, former Windsor High School head coach, GHTBL Hall of Fame inductee and current Greater Hartford umpire was inducted in the ABCA Hall of Fame in 2017.

The GHTBL is excited to join the ABCA in 2020 and our managers look forward to helping amateur ballplayers reach their fullest potential.  A special thanks goes to ABCA Executive Director Craig Keilitz for his tireless efforts in operating a world class baseball organization.
