Middletown Manager Ruggiero Called Up to Cape Cod League

Congratulations to Ryan “Reggie” Ruggiero, Manager of the Middletown Mets, on his recent promotion to the Cape Cod Baseball League!

Ryan will join the Bourne Braves as the Baseball Operations Intern for the summer of 2026. He is currently attending the University of Connecticut and double majoring in statistics and economics.

Since joining the Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball League in 2021 as scorekeeper for Malloves Jewelers, Ruggiero has been an indispensable contributor. The Clinton, Connecticut, native was only 14 years old at the time, but what he lacked in experience, he made up for in dedication and preparation. Ryan went on to become the league’s youngest manager with the Middletown Mets (2023-2025), a significant feat for a loop established way back in 1929.

When the opportunity arose to work for Coach Jim Penders and UConn Baseball came about as a freshman, Ryan dove in head first. He has been a Student Manager for the Huskies for two years and counting. As Ryan moves up to Cape Cod’s high profile summer ball, the Middletown Mets will need to fill their managerial void.

Middletown has appointed Victor DeSimone, a veteran designated hitter, police officer by trade and a resident of Clinton. GHTBL welcomes Officer DeSimone to his new role as Manager DeSimone.

Special thanks to Ryan and the Ruggiero family for their many selfless contributions to the Twilight League. They are part of our local community of baseball fanatics, who more often than not, go on to achieve greatness.

Keep up with GHTBL.org for league updates.
